Evaluation Question 3

Videos above take approximately 40 seconds to load.

Webpage
Typical conventions of an artist webpage are, large clear title as artists name so audiences know whos webpage it is, fonts are clear so easy to read, on the left and right hand side there are usually navigation tools to help navigate around the webpage. Most artist websites have links to the there Facebook and twitter pages so that fans can follow and interact with the artist with ease. Most websites have links to there pages on the site that give information about the artist and there music.

First Draft

My first draft was a simple design so I can get an idea of what I want my webpage to look like, I only created one draft as I had a good idea of what I wanted my webpage to look like and it was a nice easy format so the webpage viewers have access to everything easily. Using this I created my webpage(see below) I got very little criticism from it which I changed easily. One thing I was told to change was the order of the Digipack and Video. Originally the first thing you would see was the Video and then scroll down to the Digipack. However, from the feedback it was suggested that I swap this around so the first thing we see is the Digipack because it gives an introduction to the music that follows it. Therefore I changed the order and it did look better this way.

Final Digi-Pack

Click to view full sized image

As I changed my artist I decided to produce a new Digi-pack that represents Chiraags music better. As he is pianist I included the image of him playing the Piano on the back cover, and On the front cover I put an image of him in the forest performing pyramids. I decided to keep it simple and relaxed as that is the way I want my artist to portrayed.

Individual Edit

The feedback I got from my individual edit is that I used a good range of shots and effects to make it flow well and look interesting, the location was excellent. However the sound was out of sync with the keyboard and I need to use more then just one location so I need to look to improve on these things for the Final Edit.

From my audience feed back I was told that the I should swap the music video and Digipack location around. So when fans access the site the first thing they see is the Digipack and then scroll down to the video. I also made it clear to the fans that the album is on sale and it can be bought from the site as I need to make sure the product would make sales.

Webpage Draft

This was my first draft, it was the basic layout that I wanted my webpage to have. I have included the digipack and music video on the webpage as well as a news feed and social networking sites that my artist uses so that the audience can interact with him easily. Include links to other pages on the website were the fans can find out more information about the artist.

Similar Artists and Inspirations

The Piano Guys

Christina Perri - A Thousand Years (Piano/Cello Cover) - ThePianoGuys

Titanium / Pavane (Piano/Cello Cover) - David Guetta / Faure - ThePianoGuys

The Piano Guys were our biggest inspiration, they showed us the kind of shots and locations we need, to produce an appealing Music Video for our audience. The Piano Guys use lots of panning shots in there videos and close ups of their instruments, I noticed the camera is moving most of the time which actually does make it more interesting. The locations they film in are usually very attractive to look at, interesting and calm. Audiences describe their music as calm, peaceful and dreamy as they feel like they get lost in the music. Hopefully we can come close to having the same impact on our audience.

Jennifer Thomas

Requiem for a Tower - Jennifer Thomas

Jennifer Thomas is another similar artist to ours, she has produced a few Piano covers just like Chiraag has. This music video is fast paced and intense performance video. The locations used kept the audience interested in the video as well as the music it self.

Artist/Concept

We decided to start over as our band had broken up and no longer wanted to be part of the project. Luckily Chiraag Shah the Bass player can also play the Piano. We approached him and asked if he would like to perform in our music video. He said he would and produced a tune for us on his Piano. We wanted to a performance video of him playing the Keyboard or Piano in an open natural environment like a forest. So we begun researching Pianists to find out the forms and conventions of a Piano/Keyboard cover music videos.

We played the track to our target audience and then told them of our idea of doing a performance video in a forest, we got positive feedback as they thought the location would fit this music well.

Rough Cut

When we arrived at the studio only three members of the band were there, Cory(Guitarist), Chiraag (Bass) and Archie(Drummer). Cory explained that the singer and other guitarist no longer want to take part. So we had to come up with a new idea which is just an instrumental performance video. The studio wasn't great looking but we did what we could to make it work. The three of them came up with a tune on the spot and we told them to perform it while we take different shots of them. After some editing we produced this rough cut.

However after showing it to a few of our target audiences they didn't like it and  it wasn't at the standard of a professional Music Video and the location wasn't great either, so we decided to scrap this and come up with a new plan.
